Abuja, Nigeria, October 9, 2025:

The House of Representatives has inaugurated a new member, Rep. Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji, representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State.

The new lawmaker, who contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC), was administered the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Membership by Mrs. Kehinde Florence Amos, Deputy Clerk (Legislative) of the House, during Thursday’s plenary session presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PhD, CFR.

Rep. Elegbeji’s swearing-in follows her victory in the August 16, 2025 bye-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill the vacancy left after the death of Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga (APC), who served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House until her passing in January 2025.

With her inauguration, Princess Ayoola-Elegbeji becomes the 17th female legislator in the Green Chamber of the 10th National Assembly, further strengthening female representation in Nigeria’s federal legislature.
