KADUNA, NIGERIA. October 31, 2025 | Kabido News

In a heartfelt statement titled “A New Chapter: A Message of Unity and Purpose,” the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung, has officially announced his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move he described as both “difficult but necessary.”

Senator Katung revealed that the decision followed “deep consultations with constituents, stakeholders, family members, and political associates.” He emphasized that the defection was motivated by a desire to serve more effectively and to ensure the voices of Southern Kaduna people are heard at key decision-making tables.

According to the Senator, the realignment aligns with the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani to collaborate closely with leaders from Southern Kaduna to bring about “phenomenal and epoch-making development.”

“The APC’s developmental footprints across our senatorial district reflect a genuine commitment to inclusion, equity, and progress,” Katung stated, noting that the move aims to sustain and expand ongoing gains under the current administration.

He also appealed for understanding among supporters who may feel disappointed by his decision, urging them not to allow political differences to strain long-standing friendships.

Quoting former U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, the Senator said:

“I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, or in philosophy as cause for withdrawing from a friend.”

Senator Katung reaffirmed his commitment to unity, hope, and continued dialogue, assuring his constituents that his political realignment will deepen inclusion and accelerate development in Kaduna South.
