President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to religious liberty, tolerance, and democratic values, emphasizing that the country remains a model of peaceful coexistence among diverse faiths.

In a statement released on Saturday, the President asserted that Nigeria stands “firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty,” noting that since 2023, his administration has maintained open engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders to address national security challenges affecting citizens across all regions.

Rejecting recent portrayals of Nigeria as religiously intolerant, President Tinubu stated that such characterizations “do not reflect our national reality,” adding that the government continues to take sincere measures to safeguard freedom of religion and belief for all Nigerians.

He further emphasized that religious tolerance has long been a core tenet of Nigeria’s identity, assuring citizens and the international community that the country “opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it.”

President Tinubu concluded by reiterating his administration’s readiness to work closely with the United States government and other international partners to strengthen cooperation on protecting communities of all faiths.
