Over two hundred and fifty in Sabon Gero Community, Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, have benefited from the free medical outreach organizes by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Kaduna State chapter
The free medical outreach which included medical screenings, tests, and distribution of free drugs, was attended by women and children on Thursday, 30th of October, 2015 gathered women children including elderly parents who were there for series of testes.
Chairperson of association, Comrade Sahura Jibrin Maidoki said, the outreach was aimed at providing essential healthcare services to the community, emphasizing that health is essential to life. expressed satisfaction with the large turnout, which demonstrates the impact of the association’s humanitarian efforts.
She appealed to the Kaduna state government to include the association in its laudable initiative.
She pledged to continue initiating programs that directly benefit the people.
During the medical screening, a child in need of urgent support was identified, and the NAWOJ Chairperson pledged to forward the matter to the relevant authorities for prompt intervention.
Comrade Maidoki also commended the commitment and support of NAWOJ members and EXCOs for making the initiative a success.
Former NAWOJ Kaduna Chairperson, Mrs. Jummai Yarima, in a remark, she commended the current leadership for the outreach and urged them to sustain the momentum.
Comrade Jummai Yerima who have served two term as the Kaduna State Chairperson, appreciate the new elected executives for the initial, pray for God wisdom upon running the association.
She enjoin all other nawojians to come together and move the association forward by supporting the new EXCO.” I know it’s not easy but I will call on those who couldn’t be able to attend to always put the association at heart to a better Kaduna NAWOJ.
Also speaking the Ward Head and Youth Leader of the Sabon Gero community, expressed gratitude to NAWOJ for the medical intervention and called on other individuals and organizations to emulate this example.
The medical outreach included eye screening, ear check-up, malaria and typhoid tests, deworming drugs, paracetamol, and Vitamin supplements, sanitary pats among others.
Drugs worth over Five hundred naira were distributed free of charge.
The outreach was supported by the primary health care Kaduna State and other NGO.
