Nigeria’s Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, took part in the High-Level Event on the Tropical Forest Forever Facility, held on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York on Tuesday, September 23, 2025,

The event focused on advancing global efforts to protect and sustainably manage tropical forests, critical ecosystems for biodiversity, climate regulation, and local livelihoods.

Minister Lawal joined world leaders, policymakers, and environmental experts to discuss innovative financing mechanisms and international cooperation to combat deforestation and promote reforestation initiatives.

Minister Lawal’s participation demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to environmental sustainability and addressing climate change challenges, aligning with global goals for forest conservation and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Agenda.
