Celebrating World Breastfeeding Day, the Kaduna State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has called on nursing mothers to embrace exclusive breastfeeding as a vital step toward ensuring the health and well-being of their children.

The call was made by the Chairperson of NAWOJ Kaduna, Comrade Sahura Jibril Maidoki, in a statement issued to commemorate World Breastfeeding Day, and signed by the chapter’s Secretary, Comrade Hadiza Bello Abdullahi.

Comrade Maidoki expressed concern over the increasing number of mothers who do not practice exclusive breastfeeding, stressing that proper infant feeding practices are essential for reducing infant illnesses and mortality.

She reaffirmed NAWOJ’s commitment to supporting mothers in Kaduna State, encouraging them to take full advantage of the health facilities made available by the state government.

According to her, these facilities play a key role in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates across the state.

The association also expressed readiness to partner with relevant health agencies and non-governmental organizations to complement government efforts in promoting maternal and child health.

World Breastfeeding Day is marked annually to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and to promote policies that support breastfeeding mothers around the world.
