Governor Uba Sani has unveiled the Kaduna State Ultra-Poor Graduation Programme (KADUPG), a bold and data-driven initiative aimed at lifting thousands of vulnerable residents from extreme poverty into sustainable livelihoods.

Implemented through the Kaduna State Social Investment Programme Agency (KADSIPA), KADUPG combines social protection, skill training, financial inclusion, and mentorship to empower citizens earning less than $3 a day. The programme’s first phase targets 2,400 beneficiaries across Kaduna State, each set to receive up to ₦300,000 in productive support to start or expand small-scale enterprises.

Governor Sani described the launch as “a pivotal step toward inclusive development and shared prosperity.” He noted that the scheme places deliberate emphasis on women, youth, and persons with disabilities, anchored on equity and resilience.

Partners such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), Village Enterprise, and the AMA Foundation lauded Kaduna’s leadership and data-driven approach, describing KADUPG as “a model for evidence-based, people-focused intervention.”

Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to make poverty eradication a central pillar of governance, saying, “We are building a Kaduna where no one is left behind, a state defined not by its challenges, but by the ambition of its response.”
