The Federal Government announced on Wednesday that it has released ₦2.3 billion to settle salary and promotion arrears for university lecturers.

The government also reiterated its firm commitment to revitalising Nigeria’s tertiary education sector through targeted fiscal measures, policy reforms, and continuous dialogue with the Academic Staff Union of Universities and other university unions. The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, shared this update while briefing on ongoing discussions with ASUU and other unions in tertiary institutions.
