The Federal Government of Nigeria has dismissed recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald J. Trump, alleging widespread killings of Christians in Nigeria and calling for the nation’s designation as a “Country of Particular Concern.”

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ref No: MFA/PR/2025/103), the government emphasized that such claims “do not reflect the situation on the ground,” stressing that Nigerians of all faiths “have long lived, worked, and worshipped together peacefully.”

The Ministry reaffirmed that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria remains steadfast in fighting terrorism, promoting interfaith harmony, and protecting the rights of all citizens.

The statement, signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry, also noted that Nigeria will continue to engage constructively with the U.S. Government to deepen understanding of the country’s ongoing peace and security efforts.
