The Federal High Court has dismissed as entirely false a viral report alleging that Justice James Omotosho survived an assassination attempt after delivering a life sentence against Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement signed by the Chief Registrar, Sulaiman Amida Hassan, the Court described the publication, credited to an online platform known as Celebrity Blogger, as “fake news designed to mislead the public and undermine confidence in the judiciary.”

The Court warned Nigerians against circulating the report, noting that such misinformation has the potential to incite panic and could amount to an attempt to intimidate the judiciary.

Given the seriousness of the allegation, the Federal High Court has called on security agencies and regulatory bodies to launch a thorough investigation, identify the individuals behind the false report, and prosecute them under relevant laws, including those covering cybercrime, defamation, and the spread of false information.

The Court reaffirmed its commitment to an independent, secure, and fearless judiciary.
