Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, convicted and sentenced one Imran Mujeeb Ayomide to one year imprisonment for fraudulent impersonation.

Ayomide was arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Directorate I of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a one-count charge bordering on impersonation.

According to the charge, Ayomide, sometime in August 2025, fraudulently impersonated one Agent Julie Ann Andrews Irs by holding himself out as such on a Google Account, with intent to gain advantage for himself. His actions contravened Section 22(2)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

He pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him. Following his plea, prosecution counsel N. C. Mutfwang reviewed the facts of the case and tendered the defendant’s statements and a Samsung S10 phone recovered from him as evidence. She urged the court to convict him accordingly.

Justice Osiagor convicted Ayomide and sentenced him to one year imprisonment, with an option of a fine of ₦120,000. The Samsung S10 device was also forfeited to the Federal Government.
