Kabido (Adamu Marshal):

Welcome to Kabido Quantum Media Hub, sir. Kindly introduce yourself.

Inuwa Kaduma Bahago:

Thank you very much. My name is Inuwa Kaduma Bahago. I am a retired civil servant. I retired from the Kaduna State Civil Service almost 20 years ago, where I served as a Permanent Secretary.

Kabido:

One thing that clearly stands you out is your close relationship with the late former Governor of Kaduna State, Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa. Can you tell us about that relationship?

Bahago:

Patrick and I were childhood friends. Our friendship began when we were very young and continued through secondary school, university, and right up until his death. He attended secondary school in Fadan Kaje, while I attended Kagoro Secondary School. Because the mission schools had the same holiday calendar, we always returned home at the same time and spent those holidays together—sometimes even sleeping on the same bed. Nothing separated us. Our bond was very strong.

Kabido:

We truly miss Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa. How does his absence make you feel?

Bahago:

Saying we miss Patrick is an understatement. For those of us who were close to him, the pain is deep. Without exaggeration, I was among the closest people to him. Even when you didn’t see us together publicly, we were always connected. When I was a principal in Kagoro and he visited, he stayed in my house. When I came to Kaduna, I stayed in his. His absence is deeply felt.

Kabido:

As we approach the anniversary of his passing, what memories stand out most for you?

Bahago:

There are countless memories. Patrick was love personified. He cared deeply for people, remained humble, and never abandoned his friends, regardless of the position God placed him in. Whenever we met, he forgot he was a governor, we joked, laughed, and spoke freely.

He was reliable. If I had a need and mentioned it to him, he ensured it was addressed. His presence brought light wherever he went. He harboured no hatred and was a true lover of peace, willing to sacrifice anything to maintain harmony. These are the qualities we miss deeply.

However, I have come to accept God’s will. Perhaps God wanted us to rely more on Him than on Patrick. Now, I lean fully on God, and for that, I am grateful.

Kabido:

Thank you very much, sir. We hope to speak with you again in the future.

Bahago (laughing):

Not only will the doors be open, even the windows will be open to you. I am truly happy that one of our own is doing something this impactful. Kabido provides a platform where our voices are heard, locally, nationally, and beyond.

Even during your time with SOKAPU, you understood the deep issues of Southern Kaduna and presented them truthfully. What you are doing is a sacrifice, not for personal gain, but for the people.
