The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, under the able leadership of Hon. Commissioner Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, has organized a three-day capacity-building training programme for 1,250 secondary school teachers across the state.
AThe training is scheduled to hold from Thursday, 16th to Saturday, 18th October 2025, at the Katsina College, Katsina, as the main venue.

During her opening remarks, the Honourable Commissioner, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, emphasized the importance of empowering teachers for societal growth. She stated: “When you empower one teacher, you empower many; and when you empower all, you empower the entire society. His Excellency, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, has heavily invested in education to ensure teachers are adequately trained. The Ministry, along with various development partners, has already conducted several training programmes, and more are on the way to further enhance teachers’ capacity with modern teaching techniques for quality education delivery.”

She further noted that this initiative aligns with the vision of Governor Radda’s administration to ensure that every teacher in Katsina State benefits from regular capacity-building training. She assured that the Ministry will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to sustain and expand these efforts across the state.

The Honourable Commissioner reaffirmed the Katsina State Government’s commitment to continued investment in the education sector, aimed at improving both teaching and learning standards statewide.

In her concluding remarks, Hajiya Zainab urged participants to pay close attention throughout the training sessions, stressing that the knowledge gained must be effectively applied in their various schools to positively impact students’ academic performance.

She also expressed appreciation to Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, for his unwavering support to the education sector and to the Ministry in particular. She equally thanked the resource persons, facilitators, and organizers for their dedication and contributions to the success of the programme.

The three-day workshop is being conducted simultaneously across designated training centres in the state, namely:
Katsina College, Katsina, Government Unity School, Malumfashi, Government College, Funtua, Government Pilot School, Mani, Government Day Secondary School, Kankia, Government Girls Secondary School, and Daura
Government Girls Arabic Secondary School, Dutsinma.

Directors from the Ministry have been deployed to these centres to monitor and supervise the training exercise.

The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Ministry, including Alh. Salisu Yakubu, Director of Administration and Supply; Zonal Coordinators of ZEQA Katsina and Rimi Zones, as well as other Directors and stakeholders.
