The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that even his critics and political opponents are reaping the benefits of the infrastructural projects executed under his administration in Abuja.

Speaking during the flag-off of the Transit Way, N2, a major road project connecting the Central Area to the Wuse District with two bridges, Wike noted that his work speaks for itself — regardless of political sentiments.

“I told you that when you are doing your work, people may hate you,” the minister said. “All those who hate us are using the road, they will use the water, they will use the street light. The only way they can come closer to us is to blackmail us — unfortunately, we don’t know the meaning. There is no blackmail in our dictionary. The only thing we know in our dictionary is to work to the satisfaction of our people.”

Wike also expressed displeasure with the FCT Mandate Secretary on Security, warning that he may be redeployed for failing to provide updates on the completion of 12 newly built police stations across the territory.

“Director of Security, we have built not less than 12 police stations and up till now, you have not come to tell me how many are ready,” Wike said. “The day I find out, that is the day you will go to the Institute of Policy Studies so that another person can do the job. Being director is not to wear Agbada and black cap — your assignment is to ensure those police stations are ready to improve security.”

He further revealed that the current round of project flag-offs will continue until October 20, after which the administration will begin commissioning selected projects in November. According to him, these developments will boost the FCT economy and enhance the city’s overall landscape.
