In a remarkable display of leadership and commitment to workers’ welfare, Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has commenced the payment of the newly approved ₦104,000 minimum wage to civil servants in the state.

Reports from various ministries and parastatals on Friday, confirmed that workers have begun receiving credit alerts, sparking widespread jubilation across the state.

Governor Uzodimma had, last month, approved the new wage structure, making Imo State the first in Nigeria to implement such a bold and worker-centered policy. The Governor also approved a salary review for key sectors: medical doctors will now earn ₦513,000 as entry point, while lecturers will receive ₦220,000.

This development underscores the Governor’s steadfast commitment to improving the standard of living of public servants and boosting productivity in the state workforce.
