Kaduna Golf Club Hosts Over 150 Children at Special Golf Clinic to Mark Children’s Day
The Kaduna Golf Club came alive with excitement and youthful energy as more than 150 children participated in a special Children’s Day Golf Clinic and Fun Fair organized by the club’s Lady Captain, Ms. Dorcas Daniel.
The event, which attracted children from as young as two years old to teenagers, combined golf training, competitions, recreational activities, and social interaction, providing participants with a memorable Children’s Day celebration while introducing them to the game of golf.
Speaking during the event, Ms. Daniel described children as the pride of every family, the hope of communities, and the future of the nation. She emphasized the importance of investing in children’s growth and development through education, mentorship, sports, and positive social engagement.
According to her, the Children’s Day celebration serves as a reminder to parents, guardians, and society at large of their collective responsibility to nurture, protect, educate, and guide children as they grow into responsible leaders of tomorrow.
The golf clinic featured various competitions designed for different age categories. Children between the ages of two and six participated in chipping and putting exercises aimed at introducing them to the fundamentals of golf in a fun and engaging environment.
Among the youngest participants, Yusuf Adamu, aged two, emerged as one of the standout performers, while Mohammed Abdullahi secured a notable position in the competition. Other impressive performances came from Kayla Daniel and Anastatia Samuel, who successfully putted three balls during their rounds.
In the girls’ category, participants aged between six and fourteen competed in a two-hole contest. Fedora Adesisi emerged as runner-up in the gross category, while 11-year-old Zainab Haruna secured the Best Gross award after an outstanding performance.
For the older girls’ category, comprising participants aged 11 to 18 years who competed over six holes, Ummikhulsum Haruna emerged as the overall winner with an impressive net score of 35.
The boys’ competition also witnessed remarkable displays of skill and determination. Israel Silas finished as runner-up in the gross category with a score of 38, while Jeremi Yahaya secured the second runner-up position with a score of 34. Edmond Godwin emerged as the Best Gross winner with a score of 33.
In another boys’ category, Haruna Saew finished as runner-up gross with a score of 30, while Damul Kolade claimed the Best Gross title with a score of 29.
Beyond the golf competitions, participants were treated to a variety of fun-filled activities designed to encourage friendship, teamwork, and social interaction among children from different backgrounds.
While celebrating the occasion, Ms. Daniel expressed concern for children across Nigeria who continue to face difficult circumstances arising from insecurity and violence.
“While we celebrate today, our hearts also go out to children across Nigeria who are facing difficult circumstances. We remember and pray for all children who have been affected by insecurity and violence in different parts of our country,” she said.
She particularly expressed solidarity with families and communities whose children have suffered the trauma of abduction and insecurity, praying for a future where every Nigerian child can live, learn, and thrive in peace and safety.
The Lady Captain also expressed gratitude to the Club Captain, the Board of Trustees, the Management Committee, sponsors, donors, club members, and other stakeholders whose support contributed to the success of the event.
She noted that their generosity made it possible for the children to enjoy a memorable and meaningful celebration.
Addressing the children, Ms. Daniel encouraged them to remain focused on their education, respect their parents and teachers, and continue believing in their dreams.
“You are unique, talented, and capable of achieving great things. Stay focused on your education, respect your parents and teachers, and never stop believing in your dreams,” she advised.
She added that seeing the smiles and excitement on the faces of the children was one of the greatest rewards of the celebration and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to creating more opportunities that inspire and empower young people through sports and community engagement.
The Children’s Day Golf Clinic further highlighted the Kaduna Golf Club’s commitment to youth development and the promotion of golf as a tool for character building, discipline, and healthy recreation among young Nigerians.
