The New Nigeria Movement (TNNM), a non-partisan socio-political group with members in Nigeria and abroad, has formally launched its maiden national movement in Minna, Niger State, pledging to lead a strong campaign against vote buying.

At the unveiling ceremony held at Haske Luxury Hotel, the National Coordinator, Hon. Dr. Kenneth Ibuchi, said the group was created to defend the interests of ordinary Nigerians and to promote patriotism, unity, and responsible leadership. He stressed that vote buying undermines democracy and mortgages the future of citizens, particularly the youth.

Also speaking, Hon. Murtala Haliru Dantoro, a House of Representatives aspirant for Borgu and Agwara constituencies, described vote buying as a “dangerous cancer” in Nigeria’s electoral system. He warned that leaders who buy votes are not accountable to the people but to corrupt systems that funded them.

“Vote buying is not generosity; it is a crime against democracy,” Dantoro declared, urging Nigerians to reject inducements at the polls and to safeguard their dignity, voice, and future.

The movement vowed to intensify grassroots sensitization, advocate for stronger laws against electoral malpractice, and mobilize citizens across ethnic and political divides to hold leaders accountable and promote good governance.
