The Shem Sickle Cell Advocacy Foundation (SSCAF), Kaduna State Chapter, on December 14, 2025, organised the 2025 Warriors Hangout to promote awareness, encouragement and support for people living with sickle cell disorder.

The event, held at Ungwan Maigero along Yakowa Express Way, was themed “Beyond the Pain: Celebrating Strength, Resilience and Hope.”

Kabido news reports that the event featured health and motivational talks, counselling sessions and the distribution of relief materials to sickle cell warriors and their caregivers.

Speaking at the event, the Kaduna State Coordinator of the foundation, Mr. Danjuma Manga, said the programme was aimed at celebrating the courage of sickle cell warriors and educating the public on the disorder.

A health expert and Founder of the Sickle Cell Health Promotion Centre, Hajiya Badiya Magaji Inuwa, emphasised the importance of genotype testing, proper medical care and avoiding self-medication.

She also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen sickle cell care and supportive policies within the health sector.

Sickle cell warriors at the hangout shared personal experiences of discrimination, job loss and difficulty accessing essential drugs, while caregivers spoke on the challenges and sacrifices involved in supporting patients.

The event ended with the presentation of an award to the Sickle Cell Health Promotion Centre in recognition of its 17 years of humanitarian service, alongside the distribution of relief materials to participants.
