FG announces new requirement to open, operate bank account
From January 1, 2026, Nigerians and non-residents will not be able to open or operate a bank account without a Tax Identification (Tax ID).
So, why is it difficult for the same government to amend the law to make asset declaration of public office holders public. List it on an e portal accessible to all?
What stop them from amending the law to make it compulsory for everyone desiring to register properties or cars or other assets to include their TIN, BVN and NIN as part of the requirements .? and to enshrine 20% as incentive for whistle blowers, who blow whistle to discover and recover looted public assets and funds?
They are only after how to corner more to loot and not how to protect the already gathered ones from public sector larceny and criminality .
Today, the NetWorth of all the public office holders in the US across the three tiers and arms of government are public and accessible to anyone. We knew the worth of Barack Obama and Michelle before they entered the White house, …We also knew their worth the first day they left office and what revenues they generated to increase it.
