Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State, received the leadership of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), led by H.E. Tivlumun Innocent Ahure, Global Director General for the Africa Region, at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on a courtesy visit.

The IHRC team revealed that Kaduna State was selected for their global survey and assessment of humanitarian projects due to the administration’s remarkable development achievements. Their evaluation spanned all three senatorial zones and engaged rural communities and vulnerable groups to ensure credible and unbiased findings.

H.E. Ahure highlighted that Kaduna State’s empowerment index rose from 20% to 70% within just two years, compared to the eight years it previously took to reach 20%. The IHRC also commended the state’s agricultural transformation, skills development programs, commitment to girl-child education, and efforts to reduce out-of-school children, describing Kaduna as a model of purposeful leadership.

Governor Uba Sani emphasized that human rights remain central to governance, pledging continued dedication to the dignity and empowerment of all citizens.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Governor was honored with two prestigious medals:

Kofi Annan Medal of Honor for Development in Africa, recognizing grassroots-focused development efforts. Order of the Crusader of Liberty (Haile Selassie Medal), acknowledging his longstanding human rights advocacy.

Additionally, he was inducted as a Chartered Fellow of the IHRC (CIHR) after Kaduna State earned a distinguished 92% score in the Commission’s assessment of its humanitarian and empowerment initiatives. Governor Sani dedicated these honors to the resilient people of Kaduna State.
