Following from the directive of Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT) Kaduna State Wing to call for a Congress meeting, NUT Kaduna South LGA held its Congress meeting earlier today 24th, October, 2025 at LGEA Makera Model.
During the meeting, the Union directed teachers in Kaduna South LGA to downtool and withdraw their services in compliance with the directive of NUT Kaduna State Wing.
This action becomes imperative following the failure of the State Government to implement the new national minimum wage and its consequential adjustmnents after the issuance of 21 day ultimatum to Kaduna State Government.
For emphasized NUT Kaduna South LGA was in attendance of press conference alongside other trustees of metropolitan local government yesterday around 4:15pm, 23rd October, 2025. On realising that there was no approval for the implementation of NMW alongside other supporting documents, the Union delegation stage a walk out.
Accordingly, the strike action commences today, Friday, 24th October, 2025.
Teachers in Kaduna South LGA are directed as follows:
- Ensure total withdrawal of services across all schools within Kaduna South LGA.
- Mobilize for maximum participation and adherence to this directive.
- Maintain close communication with the Branch Union for updates and necessary guidance,
- The monitoring team will go around the schools within Kaduna South LGA to ensure total compliance.
NUT Kaduna South LGA remains committed to greater success in this action, which can only be with our collective efforts and determination to ensure that the government is held accountable over non implementation of national minimum wage.
NUT Kaduna South LGA calls on teachers in Kaduna South LGA to stand in solidarity with NUT as we demand implementation of the national minimum wage with its consequential adjustment.
