Federal Government has been advised to reduce cost of fuel prices sold at filling stations across the country to alleviate sufferings of the people.

A former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. Alhaji Umaru Dembo gave the advice in Kaduna while reacting to reports of reduction of crude oil prices in the international market to sixty dollars per barrel.

Alhaji Umaru Dembo expressed dismay that over the years reduction of crude oil prices had not benefitted the citizenry despite calls to cushion effects of oil subsidy removal.

He also stressed the need for Federal Government to protect domestic refineries to facilitate their operations expected to reduce high cost of the products, promoted by unpatriotic marketers.

The former Minister expressed the hope that probe of eighteen billion dollars oil revenue by the House of Representatives would achieve desired objectives, to justify such investigation which should recommend serious penalty against offenders to serve as detriment.
